Due to retirement, the Union needs to appoint a Competitions Secretary. The Role and Responsibilities are as follows:
The Union holds 3 major income-generating events every year:
1) Spring Meeting 2) County Championships 3) Autumn Meeting
Entries into each are led by the clubs and, by an established process, into the hands of the Competitions Secretary.
The role is to create the start sheet and distribute back to the clubs. Then attend on the day to issue the scorecards (but sometimes that role is provided by the hosting club) and then collect them to produce the prize sheet.
That can be achieved by either stopping in the clubhouse during play or entering the event himself (being last one out and last one back).
He is also responsible for one extra event called 'Welsh Handicap Team Championships'. A far smaller entry field with less administration.
This is a Wales Golf event and our role is simply to act as liaison between the clubs and Wales Golf, by attending at the hosting club at the regional qualifier event, to issue cards and record returned cards before forwarding onto Wales Golf.
The role also involves attending at the 2 bi-annual Union committee meetings and the Annual General Meeting, held during a weekday evening at Denbigh GC.
You will become an 'Officer' of the union; will be issued with DGU branded golf clothing and will be given a small honorarium.
All expenses are covered and your extra bonus is that you will be given free entry into the annual 'County Presidents Day' (Golf + Evening Meal) - a day NOT to be missed!
This is a highly rewarding position, working alongside the County Secretary and County Marketing Officers and learning how the DGU benefits its members.
The position will be formalised at the December 2025 AGM so PLEASE can you consider and advise us by email to: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. as soon as possible.
